HELP |
The best way to enhance your visit to comics Forum is to download the actual fonts that we use. The four special fonts that we use are True Type fonts usable by any system that can use True Type fonts. You may not be seeing the site as we intended for one or two reasons. The first reason is that you are using an older browser that doesn't display special fonts. Or you may have turned off authors' fonts in preferences (or more exactly you've forced your own font preference).
Use the chart below to determine whether or not you can see our fonts.
Group 1 - Our Fonts | Group 2 - Arial | Group 3 - None |

If all three groups look different, then you are already experiencing this enhancement. All of the captions look different from the body text and etc. If groups 1 and 2 look the same but look different than group 3 then you've got an older browser or you've overridden fonts, or you don't have the fonts in group 1 installed on your machine. If all three look the same (Times Roman), then you've probably got a very old browser that doesn't support fonts. Of course, if you are viewing this from a text browser, you don't see any fonts at all. But you already knew that.Want to see our fonts? Download this zip file (1/3 of a mb - about 1:45min on 28.8), unzip it and place the fonts into the appropriate directory on your hard drive. You will install them as appropriate for your operating system. Hint: In Windows 95 go to control panel and install them from the fonts icon.
In case you were wondering, this site was designed with any resolution in mind. If you don't know what resolution is, read on. The typical monitor is capable of displaying beyond 256 colors and resolution (pixels per sq. in.) from 480x640 to 1024x768; 600x800 being the most common. There are two notable special cases. WebTV and Palmtops view web pages at even smaller resolutions and newer high end monitors view resolutions beyond 1024x768.We've designed this site to be viewed by any resolution and any color depth. However, there is the possibility that the framed portion of our site, the readership forum, may be distorted from an older browser from a low-color low-res monitor and video card. Not to worry, click on "remove frames" and you'll get an intact web page.
Also, we use special HTML conventions that give us and our visitors the functionality they want and we want, but not at the expense of our sightless readers. Although the images will for them remain unseen, the text of every article and captions of every image are available and can be read sensibly by speech programs. That's why some of you see what seem to be redundant captions. They are read by the speech browsers successfully.
However. We designed this site with 256 colors and 600x800 resolution in mind. If you meet or exceed this recommendation, you'll have no problem while visiting our site. If you don't meet the recommendation, the worst you'll encounter oversized fonts and a slightly scrunched up appearance. But everything is quite readable.
To exit the forum, click "Main Page" or click the exit button.
Choosing "Remove Frames" will take you to the Forum front page minus the frame.
Click "Add Frames" if you want to see the site with frames.
